Trading volume
How many shares were traded on a given day.
Volume counts how many units of a security changed hands in a period. High volume means many investors are active and the price move carries weight.
A price drop on very high volume often marks a sell-off; if volume then fades while the price stops falling, selling pressure may be easing. Thinly traded shares often have a wider spread and jump more.
